Stitching & Cooking Up Something

Looks like a great day to design something in these beautiful colors.

I just am not sure what I want to draw!
I am thinking its time to do something on a pillow case.
Before I start I think I will make
Bethany's
Mountain Dew Cake

This cake recipe is from the July/August 2007 issue of
“Cooking with Paula Deen”.
This is the cake everyone requests Bethany make.
So at our house its Bethany's Mountain Dew Cake.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 (18.25-ounce) box lemon cake mix
  • 1 (3.4-ounce) box lemon flavored instant pudding mix
  • 1 (12-ounce) can Mountain Dew soda
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • DIRECTIONS

    • 1
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Lightly grease and flour a 10-cup Bundt pan.
    • 2
In a large bowl, combine cake mix and pudding mix. Add soda, oil and eggs. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth. Pour batter into prepared pan, and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and let cool completely on a wire rack. Sprinkle with powder sugar and serve!

One for us and I took one to my son who was sick and
      craving this cake!

January is For Snowmen

I love snowmen, I figured out a while ago if I use them for Christmas I can leave them out and enjoy them in January.

These are just a few I have out right now.
The one with the open belly is where I put the TV remotes.

This one is for a candle but I like to keep chocolate in it.
No one thinks to look there since it is for a candle.
And thats my plan so there is always chocolate
for me!

This set my husband gave me....
AHHHH

See so cute.
I do keep this one out most of the year.

Another one for a candle....
I really do put a candle in this one....
Thats how I trick the kids...hahahahaha

The Stitchery in December

I just had to share this stitchery my Husband finished for me in December.
I just love it.
We were trying to decide what to do with it next ...
Frame it, quilt it or what.
I did see someone on line made it into a pillow....
to much work to have it laid on...

It turned out so pretty.
We took it over to Michaels to have it framed with our 60% coupon.
With the Coupon they wanted 189.00 dollars to frame it...
Can you believe it....
So we went over to the fames (that were 50% off) and we did it ourselves
for 35.00 dollars.....with a matt!!
Soon as I get finished framing I will show you.
So we did decide on framing.
And I have the perfect spot soon as the Christmas tree comes down.
I know I have to take it down soon....
LOL

DIY Cookbook Hutch!

I love Cookbooks!
I read them like most people read novels.
And I had them everywhere.
So thats when the the idea for a "Cookbook Hutch" was born.

That is where my husband comes in....he's my very own Handyman!
So we decided to make an entertainment center into the Cookbook Hutch.
He Can Do Anything I think of!

We took off the back because it had a big hole cut out for a TV, and
My Handyman replaced it with a solid piece of wood.

And he had to add a shelf.

It was way to cold outside so we had to do it right in the kitchen.
I didn't mind at all since I finally was going to have my Cookbook Hutch.

See how nice it it is going to look with my cupboards and the yellow walls.

Finally!!
Finished!
I am so excited i can't believe it.
And I had to add the paper doilies to the shelves.
It just adds so much....hehehehe.

All my cookbooks and recipe boxes in one place!

Doesn't it look Beautiful!

Had to put a tea pot by the Tea cookbook.

I was so glad it had drawers too!

I just love how many I could get into the drawers.

I do have some funny cookbooks. This is one of my favorites.
It is really funny as well as has some good recipes too.

Some are really good cookbooks and...

some are really good as well as so darling.

Some are from places  we have lived by
and some are from place we have gone on trips too.

I love cute recipes boxes too!
I am glad I only have a few of those.
I am now thinking about what that great Handyman can do next!
